A Week of Events in Golden Bay


Join us in Golden Bay during the week of Oct 8–14 for a free/koha event every day.

Monday at 1pm: Conversation with the Community Mental Health & Te Whare Mahana at the Library.

Monday at 2.15pm: One hour talk with Judith Rothstein on "Mindfulness in Everyday".

Tuesday at 12.30pm: Food-Mind-Body connection workshop with Linda Ross from Nourishing Ways (42 Commercial St, Anglican Church Hall).

Wednesday at 10.30am: Meditation Mob on the Village Green with Emma Crawford from BayYoga.

Thursday at 12-1pm: What is DBT? An interactive Workshop involving fun & games with two therapists from Te Whare Mahana to be introduced to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (42 Commercial St, Anglican Church Hall).

Friday 10am: Envisage your Wellbeing - Vision Board Workshop with Jojoy (max 6 people).

Saturday 4.30pm: Beach Mud Fun Party in Collingwood! Beach games, mud run, wash off at fire station, spots prizes and a street party! Awesome raffle of $750 to be won (tickets $10 all proceeds directly back into mental health community projects). Raffle prize: night for 2 at Zatori, breakfast at the Courthouse Cafe, Farewell Spit horse treks at Puponga Beach and dnner at the Mussel Inn! See our Facebook event.

Sunday 2-4pm: Plant Communication Workshop with Emma Furness at Community Gardens. Max 10 people

All Week:
Daily walks at 8.30am from Monday-Friday at Te Waikoropupu Springs with Shelby Rose,

Daily Mental Art Couch at BayArt & Young at Art (10am-12pm). Experience Bay Art and sit in conversation with a local artist about art, mental health, healing and creativity. Sketch books provided.

Photographer Chloe Mason is hosting a portraiture workshop. You'll have the opportunity to have your portrait taken in nature at the Community Gardens, where you will be adorned in handmade flower crowns or other props made from plants.

Monday 8 October

The moon phase today is called Mutuwhenua – it’s the last day of the lunar cycle. We suggest focusing on connecting with your whānau, friends and community in nature.

Focus on connecting with nature to uplift your wairua/spirit and those around you.

The moon phase today is called Whiro, the new moon, the beginning of the new moon cycle. A day where activity was minimal, a day for wananga/learning. This makes Tuesday a great day to Keep Learning.

The new moon is beginning to expand ever so slightly and can just be seen. See nature through a different lens and take some time to Take Notice and be inspired by what’s happening around you.

Thursday 11 October

Today is a very good day for fishing, eeling and crayfishing, and a good day for planting which means it’s a great day to Be Active! Getting outside and exercising is good for your overall health and wellbeing and strengthens your connection with nature.

Remember to encourage people to be as physically active as their fitness and mobility allow. You don’t have to run a marathon to be active!

Friday 12 October

This is the fourth night of the lunar month. Today is a good day to rekindle your connections with nature, re-tell stories with whānau and give back.

Nature provides for us – it gives us everything we need to not only survive but thrive. We, in turn, have a kaitiaki/guardianship role to give back to nature for future generations.
