Vitamin Sea Movie Screening
Date:7:00pm to 9:00pm on 24 September 19
Showing for the first time in Mental Health Awareness Week, Vitamin Sea follows Cal Major's record breaking two month, 960 mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats by Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). Vitamin Sea is a moving tribute to a friend who lost her life to mental illness, a mirror on plastic pollution and a reminder of how important nature is to our mental health.
For some years, Cal Major has passionately highlighted the problem of plastic pollution and its damage to ecosystems, wildlife and our ability to enjoy natural spaces. Vitamin Sea spotlights how community groups are working together to re-connect people with local waterways and find solutions to the problem of plastic pollution. Cal discovers that with connection to nature comes care. With that care comes a desire to protect. And in caring for ocean health we’re also protecting our own mental wellbeing through time outside, on the water.
So the profits from this event are being donated to two charities. The Mental Health Foundation who work towards reducing stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and provide free support, training and resources for anyone experiencing or supporting someone who is going through a difficult time. And Sustainable Coastlines to enable people to look after the coastlines and waterways they love.
