There are plenty of ways you can raise money to help support Mental Health Awareness Week while exploring your way to wellbeing. Here are just a few ideas. If you already know what you want to do and are ready to start your own online fundraising page, then click here to find out how.
Connect with nature. Have some compost you could sell? Extra bulbs in your garden? Do you have a green thumb? Get a kick out of mowing lawns? Offer up your time, goods or skills in return for a donation and connect with the whenua and your community.
Share the aroha. Create a compliment box or booth! The goal is to give people warm fuzzies and we guarantee you’ll get them in return! Have a donation tin (you can use an old tin of food) where people make a small donation in return for a compliment.
Get physical! Ever looked at a hill in your local park and thought “I wonder if I could hop up it backwards ten times”? Now’s your chance! Choose your challenge, set a target, and start a fundraising page. Find more information about online fundraising below.
Extend your whānau. Hold a dress up day at work or school and get to know the people around you better. Organise a prize and hold a competition with a donation entry to celebrate the best dressed!
Strengthen your wairua/spirit. Organise a donation entry event at your place of worship, sports club or local community space! It could be a concert, movie screening or clothing swap – the possibilities are endless. Spending time in the places you feel connected to, with people you care about and doing things you enjoy will uplift your wairua!

How to donate
If your fundraiser involves cash handling, for example a sausage sizzle or a ticketed event, you'll find all the information you need on how to pass that money on to the Mental Health Foundation on our Donate page. If you have an online fundraising page then all donations made to that page go directly to the Mental Health Foundation. And we can add any offline money raised to your online total as well.
